DCCA functions as a therapy centre as well as a special school with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder. Established in 2008, the centre aims to help those diagnosed with autism, to lead full and enriched lives and become valuable members of the community they live in. (DCCA) Autism schools are the first schools for children with Autism in twin cities exclusively using Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and VB or Verbal Behaviour. Parents may directly check with the management about certification of the therapists in ABA and VB.
The school has about 24 students at the special school, and the average teacher: student ratio is 3:8. The centre has full time special educators, teacher assistants, a full time speech therapist and occupational therapist. The centre also provides behaviour/remedial therapy for about 50 students. The sessions are conducted one on one, with focus on behaviour modification. Parents are encouraged to attend therapy sessions, to help repeat the same sessions at home, after school hours. Sensory integration therapy and speech therapy are also provided as per child’s requirements.
They have recently started a branch at Vivekananda nagar, kukatpally Hyderabad to extend services in to other parts of city. Details of the second branch are available on Nayi Disha website.
