Government Schemes: Education, scholarships & skill training for individuals with developmental disabilities (English/Hindi)

  • A number of schemes and allowances have been implemented by the Government of India to promote the welfare of individuals diagnosed with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities. This presentation highlights a few Central Government benefits that are applicable to individuals with disabilities** of Indian origin. In addition, your State may have added benefits for you according to where you live and the documents you carry that affirm your child’s diagnosis.

    This presentation focuses on educational schemes, concessions, loans, scholarships and skill training opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.

    To stay informed and be aware of allowances/mandates that are well within your rights please also read The Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016, which was enacted to promote and preserve the rights and dignity of individuals with different forms of disabilities, across all walks of their life : educational, social, legal and cultural.

    **The criteria for applicability of schemes or concessions may vary depending on the nature and severity of your child’s disability. Please check validity/suitability of any scheme/concession that fits your child’s health profile before seeking to avail it.
